Nasarawa Governor Abdullahi Sule has approved Monday, October 5, 2020 for reopening of primary and secondary schools in the state.
Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Hajiya Fatu Sabo, stated this while briefing newsmen yesterday in Lafia.
The Governor approved the date for public and private schools to start third term of 2019/2020 academic session.
According to the Commissioner, the third term is to terminate on December 18 while a new session would begin in January 4, 2021.
She noted that already teachers were sensitised on adherence to COVID-19 protocols and protective equipment were provided in schools.
Sabo added that the ministry had put machinery on ground to ensure strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols.
She also called on parents to provide face masks to their children as they would not be allowed to enter school premises without it.
“What we are most concerned with first is the safety of the students and staff.
“The schools were fumigated, safety equipment such as hand sanitisers, face masks were provided.
“We would also ensure physical distancing and regular hand washing,” she added.
