After Shodipe’s Rearrest, Another Lady Raped, Killed in Akinyele

Barely 24 hours after the prime suspect of the serial killings in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State, Sunday Shodipe was re-arrested, another brutal killing was once again recorded at Alabata community, near Moniya, in Akinyele local government area of Oyo state.

According to Newspeakonline, the ugly incident occurred on Monday, August 24, 2020, when a middle aged man, identified as Toheeb Ako and others at large raped and killed one Mary Daramola.

Speaking on the incident, the Balogun of Alabata, Chief Rasaq Ajimoti explained that it was a passer-by, who noticed the gang when they were trying to dump the corpse of Mary in a nearby bush that raised an alarm which resulted in the arrest of Ako, who was then taken to Moniya police station.

Also speaking, Daramola’s guardian, Mrs Folakemi Adedeji expressed sadness over the horrible incident and called for justice to serve as a deterrent to rapists in the society.

The Baale of Alabata, Chief Olakanmi Olaniyan, who appealed to the youths in the community to be calm, adding that the police and other security agencies are already investigating the incident, has assured the residents of Alabata of adequate security of their lives and property.

It was gathered that the suspect has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Iyaganku, Ibadan.

As at the time of filing this report, efforts to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer in state, SP. Gbenga Fadeyi on the incident were unsuccessful.
